Sport Level 3 BTEC National Certificate at The Open Academy

Course description

This is a two year practical programme, assessed entirely through coursework where you learn through projects and assignments based on all aspects of the sports coaching and sports management environment. It will appeal to students who want to obtain a sport-based qualification to lead them onto university or employment.

You will study 12 units over the two years including: Fitness Training & Fitness Principles of Sports Coaching, Practical Sports Studies and Sports Development.

After completing the course you could progress on to university to study at degree or HND level on a wide range of related sport or leisure courses. You may prefer to be employed in one of the varied career paths that the qualification will prepare you for; e.g. any public or private sector organisation that specialises in sports provision or the management of sports facilities.

This course is a single option that is available to all students, male and female, excluding those following the Football course. The Football course follows the triple option BTEC Sport.

Entry requirements

Students following level 3 courses will require 5 Cs or above including English and Mathematics.
