Course description

This Apprenticeship offers a combination of qualifications, that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work as a Beauty Therapist. A beauty therapist’s role is about improving people’s well-being by making them look and feel better. Beauty Therapy covers a range of treatments, from simple facials and make-up jobs to waxing.

Course content

Beauty Therapy Units:

– Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
– Provide facial skin treatment
– Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes
– Carry out waxing services
– Provide body electrical treatments

Entry requirements

All Apprenticeships require an initial assessment, interview and employment in the industry. At Level 2 you’ll need four GCSEs at grade D or above including English and maths. At level 3 you will need a Level 2 qualification in the subject or 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and maths at grade C or above with at least a D in the remaining subject. At both levels you will also need a grade C in an art related subject. You will need to have good people, dexterity and communication skills as well as a desire to work professionally with the general public.


You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:

– Course work
– Exams
– Oral questioning
– Portfolio of evidence
– Practical demonstration/assignment
– Practical examination
– Written examination

Future opportunities

Once you have completed the Apprenticeship, as a qualified Beauty Therapist you will be equipped with the necessary skills and qualifications required to secure employment in a beauty salon, leisure club, cruise ship or even as a make-up artist.
