Electronics A Level at Dereham Neatherd High School

Course description

We live in the age of electronic technology encompassing household ‘gadgets’ to space travel. This one or two year course enables students to understand how electronic devices work, and perhaps more importantly, the art of electronic design.

Students study Electronics at Dereham for many reasons and it makes a particularly good combination with subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Technology. However, many students study this course to try something different.

Course content

In Year 12 the course is divided into three modules called:
1. An Introduction to Digital and Analogue Systems
2. Circuits and Components
3. Control Systems

In Year 13 the course is divided into a further three modules called:
1. Communication Systems
2. System Applications
3. System Design

Entry requirements

Minimum BBCCC including Science.


Modules 1 & 2 are assessed by examinations
Module 3 is examined by internal assessment

Modules 4 & 5 are assessed by examinations
Module 6 is examined by internal assessment
