Access to HE Nursing Level 3 at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London
This course will help you to develop a career in nursing. You study a range of subjects including nursing studies, health sciences, psychology and sociology of health, research skills, maths and English and information technology. Specific units will develop your study skills in preparation for higher education.
This course will give you the knowledge you'll need for a career in nursing or midwifery. You will study a range of subjects including nursing studies, health sciences, psychology and sociology of health, research skills, maths and English and information technology. You will also study specific units which will develop your study skills in preparation for higher education.
The teaching and learning methods will prepare you for study in higher education, and include interactive lectures, seminars and group discussions. You may also have role-plays or simulations, experiments and guest speakers.
You must be at least 19 years old with the necessary background and motivation to succeed. You will need GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or above. You will also be required to take an English and maths assessment, and have an interview.
Assessment is through assignments, analysis of case studies and exams. You will build a portfolio of evidence, to be presented to the examination board.
You could progress to a degree in nursing, including adult, mental health or paediatric, midwifery or the allied health professions.

Julie Rookley took out a 24 Plus Advanced Learning Loan to complete her Access to Nursing course and has taken up a place to study midwifery. Split 50:50 between theory and practice at Northampton University and Kettering General Hospital, Julie works 37.5 hours a week as part of her training while the NHS will pay for her tuition fees.
