A2 Psychology at The Beacon School
Course description
The AS course consists of two compulsory units which together aim to provide an overview of a number of different branches of psychology. Unit 1 looks at cognitive psychology, development psychology and psychological research methods. Unit 2 covers biological psychology, social psychology and idividual differences. The A2 section incorporates more flexibility, with students being able to choose from topics ranging from the influence of psycholgoy on the world of media to the psychology of addictive behaviour.
Future opportunities
You could take this course with other advanced level courses such as a science or one of the humanities to prepare for higher education in Psychology or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Psychology and people such as a Counsellor, Nurse or Psychologist. You could also specialise in a particular area of Psychology such as education or mental health depending on the area that interests you.
