Construction and Civil Engineering Level 3 Extended Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

The course is designed to meet the requirements of today's Construction and Civil Engineering Technician and give them the necessary skills and competences to work effectively in an industrial situation, or prepare the individual to further their qualifications.
Successful completion of this programme could lead Higher Education. Potential careers include working within the construction industry or as a civil engineer.
A selection of 18 of the units will be delivered over a 2 year period. In the first year 9 units will be undertaken to achieve the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma and 9 in the second year to achieve the BTEC Extended Diploma in Construction.
During the course, you will study: Health and Safety; Construction Technology and Design; Science and Materials; Surveying and Economics and Finance.

Entry requirements

You will need to have 4 GCSE’s in Mathematics, English and Science (minimum Grade C) or a Level 2 Construction qualification and GCSE’s in Mathematics and English (minimum Grade C). You will also be required to pass a trade test as well as a literacy and numeracy test.
Applicants with no official qualifications may be admitted after interview under special circumstances.


Assessment is a combination of practical tests and written examinations.
