Horticulture at Roots and Shoots

Course description

If you enjoy working outdoors and getting stuck in to various gardening projects, plus learning how to grow plants and make our environment look good, this is the course for you.

This course is a fun, mainly practical introduction to gardening. It is a perfect first step towards a career in horticulture and the green sector. It's also a food course for any student looking to develop skills to work in any pratical trade.

Students can choose from a total of 56 units, covering a diverse range of skiills from growing and looking after plants , building and maintaining gardens, using tools and machinery correctly and learning about the environment.

Alongside this you'll also be improving your maths, English and ICT skills as well as having the chance to get real work experience through all the links we've developed.

Entry requirements

Generally students come in at Entry 2-Level 1. We assess your current level of literacy and numeracy to determine the support you might require.
