Engineering -Electrical Mechanical - Mechatronics - Level 3 Extended Certificate (ENG1) at Barnsley College
Mechanical engineers develop and design components and machinery used in many industries like manufacturing, construction, water, power, health and transport. They also manage teams of technicians and craftspeople who carry out installation and maintenance work. If you are technically minded, good at maths and science, and like solving problems, a professional career in engineering could be a great move for you.
After successful completion of this one year course you can progress to a Level 3 Diploma.

Four GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including English plus maths at grade 5 or above
Level 2 in Engineering.
English and Maths
If you do not already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and maths you will automatically undertake further study in these subjects as part of your study programme.

If your total annual household income is less than £35,000 you could be eligible for financial support through our Learner Support Fund to help with travel. You don’t have to pay this money back. Apply to the Learner Support Fund.

FREE bus services!
We realise that getting to and from college might not be very easy for everyone so we have funded four free return bus services for our students. They go to and from the Old Mill Lane campus which is just a few minutes’ walk from our Sixth Form college campus.

South Elmsall via South Kirkby, Hemsworth, Kinsley, Fitzwilliam and Ryhill > Old Mill Lane campus
Rotherham via Kimberworth, Ecclesfield and Chapeltown > Old Mill Lane campus
These bus routes are completely free for our students and operate on a first come, first served basis. Each route operates to ensure students get to college before lessons start and a return service is provided after lessons finish.
