Chemistry A Level at Withernsea High School Specialising In Humanities

Course description

A level chemistry builds on the knowledge and understanding of chemistry developed at GCSE level. The course aims to stimulate interest in and enjoyment of chemistry, to foster imaginative, logical and critical thinking, to demonstrate the wider application of chemical knowledge, showing appreciation for social, environmental, economic and technological contributions to society. Students who study chemistry at A level have various career opportunities open to them and whilst A Level Chemistry is essential for certain career paths it is also a valuable support subject for students studying A Level Biology.

Course content

Year 12 (Lower Sixth) Lessons

Topics include: Foundation chemistry, Chemistry In Action and Investigative and practical skills

Year 13 (Upper Sixth) Lessons

Topics include: Kinetics, Equilibria and Organic Chemistry, Energetics, Redox and Inorganic Chemistry and Investigative and practical skills
