Course description

Apprenticeships are a vocational training programme leading to a series of qualifications, offering the opportunity to earn while you learn using real working life experience.  To become an apprentice you must be employed in a suitable position.  Please contact us to discuss opportunities.

Course content

Work Based Learning Element - Diploma in Warehouse and Storage Skills.  This is a work based qualification containing both competency and knowledge based criteria based on your workplace.  An assessor will be assigned to help you select the units which best fit with your work and will visit you regularly to help you compile a portfolio of evidence to show your competence.  As the Diploma is tailored to the individual, the time taken to complete will depend on how quickly you collect the evidence.  Normally a Diploma Level 3 will take a minimum of 15-18 months to complete.

Functional Skills:  English & Maths at Level 2

You will cover topics including:-

Health & Safety in the Workplace

Providing Leadership

Contributing to Customer Service

Supervising receipt, storage or dispatch of goods

Our standard programme includes College day release to complete the Functional Skills (if required) - however this can be discussed with the individual employers and candidates prior to acceptance on the programme as we can be fairly flexible on the layout of the programme. 

Entry requirements

3 GCSE passes at C or above including Maths and English.

Employers are looking for candidates with good GCSE grades.  However, attitude, flexibility and a willingness to learn and progress through the apprenticeship porgramme are as important as qualifications.


Assessment is a combination of portfolio evidence and online or written testing for functional skills (if required), supported by your assessor, lecturers and employer.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship programme, you will be given advice and guidance about opportunities for further study.  Progression to a Level 3 or 4 Management course is possible of your job role is suitable.
