Religious Studies A2 at King David High School
Pupils choosing to study Religious Studies at AS and A-Level will develop their interest in and enthusiasm for a rigorous study of religion and relate it to the wider world. They will develop knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to the specialist study of religion. Pupils will adopt an enquiring, critical and reflective approach to the study of religion and reflect on and develop their own values, opinions and attitudes in the light of their learning.
At A2 Level students will also study 3 modules
1. Philosophy of religion: arguments for the existence of God; challenges to religious belief; religious experience; religious language.
2. Ethics of religion: ethical language and thought; deontoloigcal ethics; teleological ethics; freewill and determinism.
3. A study of religion - Judaism: religious figures and sacred texts; religious concepts and religious life; significant social and historical developments in religious thought; religious practices and religious identity.
GCSE Religious Studies (B)
GCSE English Language (C) and GCSE Maths (C)
*Please consider when making your choice that statistical analysis of results show that students with Grades B and above find the course much more accessible.
At A2 Level candidates will sit a 2 hour written paper on each module where they are required to answertwo open essay style questions from a choice of four.
