Goverment and Politics A level at The Ecclesbourne School

Course description

The Government and Politics course allows you to gain a critical awareness of the nature of politics and the relationships between political ideas, institutions and processes. You will engage in contemporary politics and current political debates, and consider how the rights and responsibilities of individuals impacts on our society as a whole.

AS comprises two units on Contemporary Politics of the UK and Contemporary Government of the UK, where you will cover political parties, their ideology and systems, pressure groups, elections, voting behaviour, the role and power of parliament and branches of the UK government. The two units at A2 comprise Contemporary US Government and Politics where you will examine the US constitution, Congress and federal government, and US Government and Politics, where you will compare and contrast the US with UK and EU political systems.
