GCSE Geography at Kingston College
Course description
Geography is an excellent preparation subject for a range of A Levels as it combines well with both humanities and science subjects. There is a mix of assessments as well as the opportunity to take part in trips both locally, in London and further afield.
Course content
In physical geography students study:
- The challenge of natural hazards
- The living world
- Physical landscapes in the UK
In human geography students study
- Urban issues and challenges
- The changing economic world
- The challenge of resource management

Entry requirements
The normal offer for entry on to the GCSE course is four GCSEs at grade 3 or above. This course can only be studied as part of the Full Time GCSE course alongside another four GCSE subjects.
Assessment
There is no coursework in the 9-1 GCSE Geography. Students will sit an exam paper testing geographical skills.
Financial information
Future opportunities
If a student achieves at least a grade 5 they will be able to progress to A Level Geography. If a student achieves a grade 4 they will be able to continue on to a Level 3 vocational course.
