Resort Representatives Summer and Ski City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma at South Downs College

Course description

Are you organised and enthusiastic? Do you enjoy working with people? Would you like to learn more about the holiday industry - then this may be the course for you.

This is a one year vocational qualification preparing you for supervisory level working as an overseas resort representative, ski chalet host, or in a UK or overseas holiday park.

Course content

You will study the following units:

  • Ski Chalet Host
  • Holiday Park Host
  • Tour Guiding
  • Promotions and Sales
  • England
  • Overseas Representatives
  • Developing People in Travel & Tourism
  • Entertainment for Travel and Tourism Customers

You will be expected to carry out work experience at a UK holiday park, as well as the opportunity to go on an optional overseas residential. Other activities, trips and visits will also be included on the course.


Entry requirements

The entry requirement is based on five GCSEs at grades A*-C including English Language or Mathematics or to have achieved a Level 2 qualification with Credit or Distinction profile.

You must also have a committed attitude and excellent attendance


External exams (on-line) and portfolio assignments, and observation of practical assessments.

Financial information

You will need to purchase a uniform for uniform days, which will be a casual uniform worn once a week and for practical assessments and some visits.

You will also be required to purchase chefs whites for your work in the College kitchen. It is essential you follow the grooming guidelines as instructed.

The course will be enhanced by a range of subsidised visits to relevant tourist attractions. An opportunity to stay and work at a UK holiday park may also be offered as part of the course.

Additional Costs – A contribution towards a range of optional visits.

Future opportunities

Employment as an overseas resort representative, holiday park host, ski chalet host or progression to continue with further studies in higher education.

The course will be enhanced by a range of subsidised visits to relevant tourist attractions.
