Science Triple Award at The Telford Langley School
You will study Physics, Chemistry and Biology which count as three separate GCSEâ€™s. As well as giving you the opportunity to learn scientific facts you will also learn how to plan and carry out a range of scientific investigations and to analyse the results. The course will also help you develop your skills in organising and presenting information clearly.
A Brief Outline of the Subject Content:
In this course pupils will study 6 modules for each of the sciences; Biology Chemistry and Physics. The course introduces scientific ideas and facts which will help the candidate develop an awareness of scientific issues in a range of domestic, industrial and environmental contexts. The course also encourages the development of skills in interpreting, evaluating and discussing scientific ideas and planning and carrying out practical investigations.
No Formal Entry Requirements
Pupils who choose this option study the three sciences and achieve three separate GCSE's; one for each science. They also have the option to sit the double award science giving them a total of 5 GCSE's for science.
Paper 1 for each science is sat in June of Year 10 and is worth 33.3% of their final grade.
Paper 2 for each science is sat in June of Year 11 and is also worth 33.3%
Coursework is completed throughout Year 10 and 11. Pupils have a choice of completing;
- A Science in the News report plus practical 'can do' assessments worth 33.3%
- A Research Study and Data Task plus a practical assessment worth 33.3%
The practical assessments are completed in class as part of the regular lessons
Progression to Level 3, AS/A2 Level, AVCE, BTEC Award, Advanced Diploma Level 3, Progression Diploma Level 3, NVQ 3, Advanced Apprenticeship in related subjects, Access to HE
