Biology A-Level at Freman College

Course description

The A-level Biology course is externally assessed through written examination. All examinations take place in June of Year 13. Practical skills will be assessed throughout the course. In Year 13 we strongly recommend that students take part in the field course where we undertake the practical skills development.

Course content

This is a demanding academic course, suitable for those seeking to go on to study a related subject in further education, such as a degree course at university. It is advisable to study Chemistry alongside Biology if intending to study a Biological Science at university and this is a highly recommended subject to combine with Biology at A-level.

  • Biotechnology

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in Biology exams B2 and B3.

An A-level in Biology is ideal preparation for a career in a range of diverse disciplines including medicine, veterinary medicine, biomedical science, nursing, biotechnology, pharmacy, psychology, forensic science, agriculture, horticulture, food science, physiotherapy, conservation and environmental studies.
