Course description

Start Dates: September, January and March

If you are starting on a career in the light or heavy vehicle industry, this programme will enable you to learn as you earn. You will study for valuable City & Guilds vocational qualifications and Diplomas in paint refinishing and you will also have the chance to brush up your Functional Skills in ICT, English and Maths.

Course content

What you will study

Paintwork preparation, paint spraying methods and techniques, health and safety and working with others.

Underpinning knowledge will be demonstrated through the successful completion of a City & Guilds Diploma. Functional Skills in ICT, English and Maths will be studied to Level 1.

How you will learn

You will learn through a mixture of theory and practical work.

Entry requirements

In full-time trade related employment
and 4 or above literacy and numeracy qualifications
If you do not have these, we can assess your current level of literacy/numeracy


There will be continuous assessment in College and at work.

Financial information

There are no costs to students aged between 16 and 18.
