Travel and Tourism at Bellerive FCJ Catholic College

Course description

One third of the course is externally assessed via a controlled assignment and a 2 hour exam, whilst the remainder is assessed by portfolio work. There are various different interesting topics that will be covered throughout the course. Students will have the opportunity to develop many skills that can be applied to the industry, including those required to deliver good customer service.

In the exam unit ‘Introducing travel and tourism’ students will investigate the reasons for the rapid growth in the modern travel and tourism industry and begin to understand why it is commonly referred to as ‘the world’s biggest industry’.

Students will also learn that the UK travel and tourism industry is made up of a wide variety of commercial and non-commercial organisations that interact to

supply products and services to tourists. This topic will build towards developing an appreciation of the different values and attitudes of these organisations and will learn about the present significance of the industry within the UK economy.

5 GCSEs grade C or above
