Health and Social Care (Nursing) Extended Diploma at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

This industry-focused programme was developed through extensive consultation between our curriculum team and local employers. It features a variety of core and specialist modules, including Anatomy and Physiology, Physiology of Fluid Balance, Communication, Counselling and Equality and Diversity, to provide the knowledge and skills needed to progress to a nursing career. Time spent in the classroom will be supplemented by a 1-2 day work placement to help with students’ professional development. On successful completion, students will be equipped to progress to a relevant undergraduate programme at one of a number of institutions, on courses ranging from Mental Health Nursing to Midwifery.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths. (Students with a grade D in English or Maths will be accepted, but must study this GCSE alongside this programme.) Applicants will also need to pass a DBS check.


Extended Diplomas are coursework rather than exam based.

Financial information

You could be eligible for a 16-19 bursary to help with education-related costs.
