Vehicle Technology IMI Diploma Entry Level 3 at Havering College of Further and Higher Education
You will work in a practical environment with workshop tools and equipment, building skills and techniques in the following areas of the industry:
- Body Repair Processes
- Routine Cooling and Lubrication System Checks
- Routine Braking System Checks
- Routine Wheel and Tyre Checks
- Routine Vehicle Checks
- Basic Vehicle Valeting
- Light Vehicle Construction
- Principles of Engine Components and Operation
- Principles of Light Vehicle Steering and Suspension Systems
- Principles of Component Fitting
You will also study to develop an understanding of motor vehicle workshop safety and the retail automotive maintenance and repair industry.
If you have not yet achieved a grade C (or above) in GCSE English and maths, you will be required to attend GCSE resit sessions (if you achieved grade D) or functional skills sessions (if you achieved grade E or below).
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you will be required to attend a brief interview.
You will be assessed through online phase tests and a practical demonstration of your individual abilities.
You could progress onto a level 1 course in vehicle maintenance and repair.
Employment opportunities could include entry level work within an auto repair shop or similar automotive company.
