Design Apprenticeship Level 3 Advanced at Wiltshire College

Course description

While each industry requires specific skills, almost all of them require designers that can come up with a concept that both meets the businesses requirements and looks good too.

Roles in design can include working in graphics multimedia, fashion and textile design and manufacturing, interior and furniture design, graphic design or even as a tattoo artist!

Our design apprenticeships are primarily delivered online, enabling you to spend as much time as possible in work with regular conference calls with your tutor and occasional workshops delivered in college.

This course is suitable for young person’s working in a job that has a commercial design focus.  This course provides a natural progression route from the design support programme.  You are likely to be already working in design but you are potentially looking to design, manage and take responsibility for client assignments.  

The Advanced Apprenticeship course provides an alternative to a full time course for those seeking the benefits of employment and training together.

Course content

An apprenticeship in design will cover a wide range of skills including graphics, interior design, signwork and web or digital design. An Intermediate Design Support Apprenticeship will help you to understand and develop your creative skills, work to briefs and apply your skills to physical design work.

Previous students have also included jewellery designers, tattoo artists, model makers and exhibition and display designers.  

Entry requirements

Candidates are required to have achieved 4 GCSEs, grades A* to C (or equivalent) including English and Maths, or a Merit or Distinction in a related subject at Level 2.


You will have one to one tuition and be set assignment that relate specifically to your own area of work.  

This course not only provides the opportunity to turn your creative ability into a commercial design job but also gives you that valuable and essential work experience.

Future opportunities

You could then progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship in Design to develop your skills further and progress into project management and perhaps leadership of a team.
