French AS at Batley Girls' High School - Visual Arts College
The course will develop all language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) while you study 3 topics in depth: leisure, education and social issues.
Further development of all language skills through the study of 3 more topics: contemporary France, the media and the environment.
GCSE grade B or above is the normal entry requirement. Pupils not achieving this will be considered on an individual basis.
Through examinations and perhaps coursework. At AS level there are 3 examinations -oral, 30%; listening test, 30%; and reading test, 40%. At A2, there are 3 further tests, oral, 15%; listening, reading, writing test15%; and a choice for the final paper. You may choose between cultural studies or literary studies; 20%.
French in combination with other A Levels will give access to a wide range of Higher Education courses such as Management, Economics Business Studies and Health. A degree in French proves you are highly skilled and leads to a wide range of well paid career opportunities.
An interest in France and French culture is important. It would be to your advantage to spend some time in France.
