A Level German at The Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls

Course description

AS students will explore the following General Topic Areas:

·           Youth, Culture and Concern (Music and fashion, Technology, Relationships)

·           Lifestyle, health and fitness (sport and exercise, food and diet, health issues)

·           The world around us: travel, tourism, environmental issues and the German speaking world

(tourist information, travel and transport, weather – e.g. natural disasters)

·           Education and Employment (schooling and higher education, education policy and student  issues, the world of work – job opportunities and unemployment)

A2 students will explore the same General Topic Areas, plus the following:

·           Customs, traditions, beliefs and religions

·           National and international events: past, present and future

Entry requirements

To be accepted on the course, students need to have obtained grade B in German or higher at GCSE level.

Future opportunities

With an AS and an A2 you can apply to university to study German, study German and take up a second language ab initio at university, combine German with another subject (e.g. Business) at university, communicate with people from other countries, work abroad, work for a company with international links, have more fun when travelling abroad, improve your UCAS application for any subject.
