The Power Industry, Advanced Apprenticeship in Wind Turbine Ops and Maintenance at Siemens PLC

Course description

Our Advanced Apprenticeships are work based (craft) and will take four years to be fully qualified. Apprentices work towards a college technical certificate and NVQ Level 2 & 3 qualifications.

You will attend our bespoke programme at Tyne Metropolitan College, North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear where certain functional skills are also completed. During your time at our Training Centre in Newcastle you will be fully trained in all aspects of the Wind industry.

After this you will be placed at various sites onshore and offshore gaining valuable experience, the sort that will help you understand our methods, resources and procedures. Some of your day to day duties will include:

  • Hydraulic system repairs
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues and fault finding
  • Component replacement

You will then complete your final year in order to finish your diploma.

Entry requirements

For an advanced apprenticeship you should have, or be expecting a minimum of four GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above including:

 Maths • English • Science

Other relevant higher level qualifications such as A levels, NVQs and Diplomas are required for a higher apprenticeship.
