BTEC Art & Design at Heath Park

Course description


For students who are passionate about Art and Design and are looking to build upon and extend their skills gained at GCSE. Art and Design at Post 16 gives students exposure to different aspects of art and design, allowing them to display their abilities in a variety of artistic disciplines and demonstrate their understanding of these contexts.

Course content

Coursework units include:
Visual Recording in Art and Design
Materials, Techniques, and Processes in Art and Design
Ideas and Concepts in Art and Design
Communication Through Art and Design
Educating Through Art and Design
Mixed Media Image Making
Generating Fine Art Ideas

Entry requirements

Minimum grade C or equivalent GCSE in Art and Design and English.


In BTEC Nationals all units are internally assessed. All assessment for BTEC Nationals is criterion referenced, based on the achievement of specified learning outcomes. Each unit within the qualification has specified assessment and grading criteria which are to be used for grading purposes. A summative unit grade can be awarded at pass, merit or distinction. Overall grades will be pass, merit, distinction or distinction*. Selected units will be moderated externally.
