Wood Occupations Level 2 Diploma at Accrington and Rossendale College

Course description

The course is made up of 60% practical work and 40% theory. Your practical studies will take place in purpose built workshops and you will be assessed by Qualified Assessors. The theory sessions will underpin your practical work by covering Health & Safety, Trade Technology and other related subjects. You will achieve the qualifications by attending college 2 days a week and on block release basis. You will also work towards Functional Skills level 2 in Maths and English

We cover two trades within these classes, Bench Joinery and Site Carpentry you will be given a choice of which career route you wish to take on induction, this course is also covered if you are taking on an apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

You will need to have completed Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery and have GCSEs at grades D or above in English and Mathematics or the equivalent in Functional skills, You will need to attend a College interview and complete an initial assessment.

Assessment

Candidates will undertake individual unit test on practical skills as well as theory units.

Financial information

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds.

This course will cost a maximum of £480 for learners aged 19 years old or above. This fee may be reduced or void depending on the individual’s circumstances.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma could lead to the Level 3 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery. Progression onto the Level 3 diploma could improve your job prospects within the construction industry.
