Health and Social Care Level 2 Extended Certificate at Warwickshire College Group

Course description

This course will help you build on your existing knowledge from Level 1 or from your GCSEs and will give you a recognised and necessary qualification to work in the health and social care sector or to progress to our level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma  in Health and Social Care  

Course content

There are a wide choice of units to study.

Core Units are:

  • Communication in health and social care 
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Human Growth
  • Safeguarding
  • Working in the health sector
  • Health and well being
  • Nutrition

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSE passes at Grade D/3 including  English (or FS L2) or a Level 1 Foundation Diploma. Alternative relevant qualifications will also be considered.

You will need a positive school or college reference with good levels of attendance and punctuality. 


A variety of methods are used to assess your progress.  These include essays. examinations individual and group presentations, case studies, assignments, displays , projects, work based assignments.

You will be awarded a grade for each module according to how well you cover the learning outcomes specified.

You will also be required to complete work placement experience.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you could progress to our Level 3 Health and Social Care diploma course if you have achieved a B or above on your Level 2. 

Alternatively you could seek employment in health and social care settings such as hospitals, surgeries, nursing and care homes.
