Biology A Level at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School

Course description

What does the course consist of:

Lifestyle, transport, genes and health. Students study how lifestyle and genetic factors affect functioning of the body and health

Development, plants & environment. Students study cell structure and development as well as plants and conservation of the environment.

The natural environment and species survival. Students study photosynthesis, climate change, forensic biology, immunology and disease

Energy, exercise and coordination. Students study muscle structure and function, respiration and effects of exercise as well as the nervous system and hormones.


Entry requirements

What entry requirements do I need?

Grade 6 in GCSE Biology or Grade 7 in Combined Science Trilogy.

If a subject is oversubscribed preference will be given to those who have Grade 7.

How is this course assessed?

Three written exams at A Level.

Practical endorsement will be achieved by completing practical work and meeting the relevant criteria.
