Psychology at Wickersley School and Sports College

Course description

This subject will be offered in Option Blocks B, C and D

You think the subject sounds interesting:

  • You enjoy learning independently
  • You like asking and answering questions
  • You are good at exams (remember there is no coursework)
  • You enjoy biology and are good at maths (there is10% maths in the course)
  • It would be beneficial if you had a grade 7 or above at GCSE in Maths and Science

3. Attachment
4. Psychopathology
5. Approaches in Psychology (including Biopsychology at AS)
6. Research Methods
 
Year 2
 
All of the above, plus Gender, Schizophrenia, Addiction

 

Entry requirements

The minimum qualification for entry into the Sixth Form is 5 4 grades including Maths and English, although there are specific entry requirements for some of our option subjects.

A student’s suitability for their chosen subjects will also be taken into account, even if they meet the 5 4 grades threshold.

Applicants will need to have a proven record of good or excellent effort and attendance in Year 11 in order to qualify for a place, verified by a suitable reference.

Assessment

3 exams at the end of Year 2. 100 % examined

A career in teaching, or you can specialise in a chosen field – educational, clinical, forensic, sports psychology
