Hair, beauty and holistics - Hair and Media Make-up Level 2 Diploma at Kirklees College, Huddersfield Centre
This qualification has been specifically designed to enable you to learn both aspects of hairdressing and media make-up. It will provide you with the skills and techniques to enable you to provide services to a high level of occupational ability. Students work collaboratively with media and performing arts departments, TV studios, fashion, media, external events, and with the close proximity of lead practitioners many students gain professional work skills in industry, which can boost assessment opportunities and broaden communication, styling and creative skills.
Course content includes the opportunity to understand and experience a variety of techniques used in the world of media make-up through a creative and challenging curriculum and excellent facilities

GCSE English grade 3 and maths grade 2 or above
A minimum of 3 GCSEs grade D or above to include Maths and English. You will be required to bring a portfolio of make-up work or artwork to your interview.
The course will be assessed using a variety of methods including the following:

educator, performance character make-up, medical treatments, wig manufacture, facial hair manufacture, prosthetics, bald caps, body art, character teeth, face painting, camouflage, special effects, sculpting, prosthetic Fabrication (Foam latex, silicone) beauty
and glamour make-up, working with actors and directors, mortuary make-up, consultant, head masks, construction make-up, digital make-up, modeling agencies, high definition, hairstyling, plaster casting, artistic representation, stage and theatrical make-up,
cosmetic science, cosmetic legislation, visual and aesthetic, historical make-up, skin care, postiche fitting and styling, permanent make-up, cruise ships, animatronics.
Depending on their experience and confidence within a sector and interview this qualification provides suitable progression opportunities to the Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical Special Effects Hair and Media Make-up and then the HND in Theatrical, Media & Special Effects Make-up
