Course content

Unit Descriptions

Theme 1 : Marketing and People :Students will develop an understanding of meeting customer needs, the market, marketing mix and strategy, managing people and entrepreneurs and leaders.

Theme 2 : Managing business activities: Students will develop an understanding of raising finance, financial planning, managing finance, resource management and external influences.

Theme 3: Business decisions and strategy. Develops the concepts introducted in theme 2. Students will develop an understanding of business objectives and strategy, business growth, decision-making techniques, influences on business decisions, assessing competiveness, managing change.

Theme 4: Global business: Develops the concepts introducted in theme 2. Students will develop an understanding of Globalisation, Global markets and business expansion, Global marketing, Global industries and companies (multinational companies).

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at A*-C ( an ability to tackle questions which require extended writing is vital; a GCSE pass at at least grade 6 in English or a humanities subject is preferred)

Future opportunities

Possible progression routes – A level business is widely recognised by universities. There is a huge range of business-related degrees available. It will also provide the knowledge required to function effectively in the business environment.
