Entry to the Uniformed Services NCFE Level 2 Diploma at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College*

Course description

This course is designed to provide you with the skills and underpinning knowledge required for a career in the public services sector. Our expectation, and yours, should be that from this level 2 programme you will achieve the progression set criteria and progress on to a level 3 course.

Course content

Learners will study a range of units that will prepare learners for making a recruitment application or will provide learners with a basis for further study and progression towards the entry qualification of a specific service. The course will provide learners with an insight into the practical qualities they require, not only for uniformed services, but also for employment in general.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements are 2 GCSE grade 3 (grade D) or above, including Maths and English Language.

Learners will be assigned a personal tutor, who, alongside other delivery staff on the programme, will monitor progress on the course in relation to work submission, attendance, behaviour and punctuality as well as progress against a learner's individual targets. Learners will receive feedback from delivery staff regarding their assessments and will also meet regularly with their personal tutor on a one-to-one basis to review progress and ensure that the required progression can be met.

Future opportunities

All learners on the programme will be challenged to progress to our Level 3 Course in Public Services. To progress to this, learners must complete their level 2 programme with a minimum attendance figure of 90%, have an exemplary attitude towards their learning and achieve good results.

Many jobs in the uniformed public services are open to learners upon completion of this programme.
