Mathematics A2 level at Lord Grey School
The course consists of six modules, four of which are Pure Mathematics, one Statistics module, and one Mechanics module.
Pure Mathematics involves topics like Trigonometry, Number Series, Calculus and Co-ordinate Geometry. It is about concepts, ideas and problem solving, with algebra being a core skill.
Mechanics contains such topics as Rigid Bodies, Modelling, Forces in Equilibrium and Motion under Forces.
Statistics looks at how information is processed, and how probability can be used to make judgements. It contains such items as the Normal Distribution, Confidence Intervals, Conditional Probability, and the Central Limit Theorem.
A*-B grade in Maths GCSE.
Assessment is by written papers. Three are taken at the end of each year.
