Personal Training (Gym-Based Exercise) Level 3 Diploma at Suffolk New College
This study programme offers an extensive study of fitness and training with the opportunity to complete modules that will enable you to teach Circuit Training, Spinning (on bikes), Pilates & Outdoor Fitness Classes; as well as working with Antenatal & Post Natal populations.
You will have the opportunity to utilise the College’s fantastic facilities, as well as local health clubs as part of your journey. Educational trips include visiting a fitness convention, EXPO and local gymnastic.
Units include Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Health and Safety, Supporting Clients, Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health, Practical units are based around studying instructing Gym Based Exercise, Personal Training and delivering Circuit Training and/or Spin classes (on bikes). You will be in College for a minimum of three full days a week, with additional days taking part in relevant work experience in a Fitness setting. The programme is assessed using a variety of methods including assignments, practical performance, observations, presentations, and discussions. In addition, there are two one hour exams and three practical assessments, which must be successfully passed to achieve this qualification.
At least 4 GCSEs at grade C or grade 4 or above, including English Language. It would be beneficial to have studied a relevant L2 Sports course prior to enrolment.
No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2017.

Students benefit from trips that support educational attainment in the year and these cost £50, which is payable at enrolment. In addition, students will need to pay £50 for a gym membership.
On completion of the programme, you will be fully qualified to work as a Personal Trainer or group exercise instructor in the fitness industry. Students may also wish to consider progression onto HE courses.
