Travel and Tourism at South Holderness Technology College

Course description

The Travel and Tourism industry continues to grow rapidly. It is a dynamic and exciting industry that has generated many different employment opportunities such as airlines, cruise ships, travel agents and tour operators.

There are opportunities to meet and work with a wide range of people in many different destinations throughout the UK and the rest of the world.

At South Holderness Sixth Form you will follow a vocational and relevant curriculum that links content knowledge to practical approaches. You will have the opportunity to take advantage of the local links with travel businesses such as PO Ferries and local airports to develop your assignments and understanding of the industry. You will develop knowledge and skills crucial to the industry in a course which can be worth up to two A levels.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs A-C grade including Maths and English

A grade B in GCSE subjects is required for most A Level programmes. Please speak to the sixth form subject teacher for specific details on course entry.

Students following this course will need to be very interested in the travel and tourism industry with a view to further enhancing their qualifications at higher education and / or pursuing a career in one of its connected areas.

Students will also need to participate in the visits, residentials and work experience as these form a key part of the course. This course is assessed only through assignments.
