Beauty Therapy Diploma Level 2 (Technical Qualification) at Bradford College

Course description

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a Technical Qualification aimed at learners aged 16-19 who are in full-time Level 2 education programme and wish to pursue a career as an employed or self-employed beauty therapist.

Course content

Throughout this qualification, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and Health and Safety. You will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients whilst providing a range of beauty treatments including facial treatments, skin analysis, manicure, pedicures, waxing, eyelash/eyebrow treatments and make-up application.

You will develop knowledge, understanding and skills within the following mandatory units of study:

  • Health and Hygiene
  • Consolation Techniques
  • Manicure Treatments
  • Pedicure Treatments
  • Waxing Services
  • Facial Treatments
  • Skin Type Analysis
  • Eyebrow Services
  • Eyelash and Eyebrow Tinting Services
  • Make-up Application
  • Anatomy and Physiology for Beauty Therapists.

You will develop communication and customer service skills, an awareness of environmental sustainability and commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving, teamwork and research skills will also be developed.

Entry requirements

Level 1 Diploma in Hair and Beauty. Four GCSEs at a minimum of Grade D/3 including English and Mathematics.


  • Graded practical unit assessments
  • Summative synoptic practical assessment
  • Two external exams
  • A portfolio of development graded Pass/Merit/Distinction.

Future opportunities

This qualification is based on the national occupational standards for beauty therapists and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist.
