Course description

If you are interested in the Science behind how the world works, you will enjoy this course. Have you ever wondered; “how do fireworks work?”, “where does all the medicine come from?”, “why is everyone going on about global warming and the Ozone?” then come and find out with this real world, application of knowledge based course. Science A Levels are one of the first subjects to switch to the new, linear, A Level format, and as such will consist of a two year course with examination at the end of Year 13. The structure of the course is designed to instil key skills and promote a fuller understanding of the concepts linking the physical world; in short, to produce skilled scientists.

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in GCSE Chemistry or Grade BB in Core and Additional Science.

Grade B or above in Mathematics and English Language.

5 A*-C grade GCSEs.

The successful completion of this course allows you to pursue many careers and higher education choices such as Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary, Forensic Science/Investigation, Pharmaceuticals, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Health, Patent Lawyer, Nuclear Industry, Oceanography, Radiography and many more.
