Public Services BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Grantham College
Our Public Services courses offer more than just qualifications - they are designed to give you a real head start in your chosen career. Whether it is your ambition to join one of the blue light emergency services or one of the Armed Forces, Public Services will prepare you by building your knowledge, confidence and physical fitness.
The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Public Services is academically based and designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in current and future employment. Physical fitness is an important aspect of the course, although not a pre - requisite for entry.
The Diploma course studies 6 units. Subjects studied include:
- Attending emergency incidents
- Expedition Skills
- Law and its impact
- Public Service Skills
- Uniformed Public Services Employment
- Uniformed Public Service Fitness
Additional subjects include:
- Team Sports
- Teamwork and Leadership Skills
You may be required to continue to study English, maths or IT as part of your course.
You need to have achieved 4 GCSEs at grade D or above.
Assignments, observation, practical tests & presentations.
Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.
Progression into employment or, with a merit portfolio, on to a level 3 Public Services course.
Our Public Services students need to demonstrate a high level of self-discipline by wearing a uniform every day. They will be required to attend a variety of educational visits, some of which are mandatory for the course. The level 2 Public Services qualification is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grade A-C.
