Barbering Level 2 Diploma at Hull College Group

Course description

This programme will support you in gaining all the basic skills and knowledge required for a career path within the barbering industry.

You will develop the ability to interact in a safe professional manner with the general public whilst providing barbering services. 

Throughout the course you will build a portfolio of evidence as your skills and knowledge are being assessed. 

Whilst completing the course you will have the opportunity to develop your flair and creative skills via competition sessions.

It is beneficial to supply a variety of your own clients to aid development of skills and self-confidence.

Course content

  • Hairdressing and Barbering Theory (on-line testing/assignments.)
  • Hairdressing and Barbering Demonstrations, skill, practice and commercial salon delivery.
  • Consulting, Preparing and Styling Hair
  • Cutting Gents Hair
  • Cutting Facial Hair
  • Chemical Services (Colouring and Lightening).

Entry requirements

A minimum of 3 GCSEs E or above (1 in English Language), Level 1 Diploma or Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing. Commitment, flair, and a desire for Babering. Excellent communication skills.

Future opportunities

  • Level 3 Award in Cutting Men’s Hair
  • Level 3 Award in Wet shaving

Further information

Employment in a Barber or unisex salon is essential.  Students must provide own models.  A satisfactory reference may be required. 

Attendance to College is mandatory.

Barbering equipment, professional overall, text books and stationery equipment is needed.
