Law A2 Level at Grantham College

Course description

This is the A Level Law course run in conjunction with AQA.

Course content

Unit 3: Criminal Law. 
Unit 4: Criminal Law and Concepts of Law Course Content: 

  • Criminal Law: Murder, Manslaughter, Non Fatal Offences Against the Person, Defences & Evaluation.
  • Criminal Law: Concepts of Law: Theft, Robbery, Burglary, Blackmail, Fraud, Criminal Damage, Making off Without Payment, Defences, Law and Morals, Law & Justice & Law and Fault.

Entry requirements

No previous knowledge of the subject is required. However GCSE English at Grade B or above is preferable.


Two exams which will be taken in June. The first exam is 1.5 hours and the second 2 hours. There is no coursework for this subject.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

Law is useful not only for budding lawyers but is also relevant to all sorts of professions (e.g. accountancy, sales and human resource management), whether or not you plan to go to university. The Institute of Legal Executives gives an exemption from the Law aspect of its Part One course if you have an A-Level in Law.
