ICT BTEC Extended Diploma at Havering Sixth Form College

Course description

These courses provide a practical, real-world approach to learning alongside a theoretical background, giving you the knowledge, understanding and skills that are needed to progress further in the subject. They are work-related qualifications designed to deliver the skills required for different career paths. The courses are a mix of theory and practical, and enable progression to employment, apprenticeships, further or higher education programmes or university.

Course content

You will have the opportunity to specialise in the more technical areas of IT whilst gaining useful skills for the work environment in general. You will develop an understanding of how ICT features in today‚Äôs society as well as developing practical hardware and software skills.

The Extended Diploma (18 units) is a full programme with no other subjects taken.

Entry requirements

Five Grade Cs at GCSE, including Grade C or above in English Language, It is not necessary to have taken an IT-related course at GCSE.

Future opportunities

You can apply for a degree course or HND in ICT or related subjects. This will also act as an excellent foundation for an apprenticeship/career in ICT or other related industries.
