Course description

This course in widely recognised by employers and colleges across the country as a ‘technical diploma’ in the engineering sector. This course provides the learner with a thorough practical appreciation of a range of engineering activities linked to our specialisms of Smart Environments and Medical Technology. The course allows for further specialist study at post-16 and is a gateway to apprenticeships.

Course content

Core & Mandatory Units:

  •  Interpreting and Using Engineering Information
  •  Mathematics for engineering

  •  Computer Aided Engineering
  •  Electronic circuit design and construction
  •  Electrical and Mechanical science for engineering

  •  Computer and numerical control programming
  •  Introduction to Communications for engineering
  •  Continuous improvement and problem solving
  •  Electronic devices and communication applications
  •  Production planning for engineering
  •  PC software and hardware in engineering
  •  Application and quality control in measurement and engineering
