Sport Level 3 Diploma at West Herts College
Do you have a keen interest in sports and want to turn your passion into a career? Then this is the course for you. It will be your job to motivate people of all ages and abilities, inspiring them to stay active and lead a more healthy lifestyle. You’ll gain an understanding of how diet and psychology can influence sports performers, studying the structure and function of the human body. Skills for coaching and improving performance are developed, as well as knowledge of the sports industry.
You’ll study a range of specialisms, including:
Anatomy and physiology
Psychology for sport
Nutrition for sport
Practical sports activities
There will be opportunities to improve your English and maths and take part in GAP work experiences to develop the skills employers are looking for.
4 GCSEs (A*-C), including English or maths, or a relevant Level 2 Diploma. You will also be required to attend a course introduction meeting.
Successful students can progress to the Sports Foundation degree or Active IQ qualification, or gain entry to study a number of sports-related degrees including PE teaching. Career opportunities straight from college include assistant fitness instructor, trainee manager, plus opportunities in sports coaching and posts such as sports assistant.
