Course description

An introductory course for learners who want to explore and learn the basics of hospitality and catering. The course is a mix of vocational and personal development units to help learners understand job opportunities within the sector. 

This is a full-time course aimed at providing you with the basic skills and knowledge required to progress to further training as a professional cook/chef in a range of settings such as restaurants and events catering.

As part of the course you will have the opportunity to work both in the kitchen and restaurant of our staff-only dining restaurant.

Entry requirements

  • At least grade G in English and maths
  • You will need to demonstrate a passion for the industry.

You will need to attend an interview with the tutor before being accepted on to the course. You may also need to supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer (in some cases two) and/or your current school or college report.

Assessment

You will be assessed throughout the course by practical assessments and small written tasks.
