Course description

AS and A2 Art & Design offers you the chance to develop your skills and creative ideas, and increase your confidence in self-expression and visual awareness.

Entry requirements

Students who have completed GCSE Art and Design; it is strongly recommended that you achieve a B grade or above and a minimum of B in English Language to enable written work in sketchbooks to be completed.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as History of Art or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Art and Design, which could lead onto higher education in areas of art and design, photography, architecture or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to art and design such as an Architect, Interior Designer, Artist or fashion designer. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for. AS and A2 Art & Design offers you the chance to develop your skills and creative ideas, and increase your confidence in self-expression and visual awareness. It provides a solid foundation for the following career opportunities: Television, Film, Architecture, Interior Design, Illustration, Advertising, Publishing, Photography, Theatre and Expressive Arts, Fashion, Graphic Design, Art Education and Therapy, Art Galleries and Museums, Conservation, Arts’ Administration, as well as professional artist or sculptor. Students who have completed GCSE Art and Design; it is strongly recommended that you achieve an A or B grade.
