An A Level in Year 13

Course content

A whole range of texts across different eras and different genres. Shakespeare to Graham Greene, Sylvia Plath to John Donne.


Throughout the year there will be written tasks assessed to A level standards. There will be a coursework folder to complete and one final exam.

Future opportunities

Absolutely anywhere! It is obviously essential to have an English A level if you wish to study any English based degree at university. It is also a good foundation for any degree with a strong written element or requiring good communication skills.


Jobs could include journalism, the media, advertising, law, the civil service.

      Our curriculum allows our students to develop independent study techniques and transferable skills in an encouraging and supportive environment.
      As a testament to our determination to continually improve our results, A Level passes have risen for the last four years, with 88% of subjects achieving 100% pass rate at A2 in 2014. 97% of all A2 students achieved the required entries for their chosen university courses and students have gained places in top universities.
      In addition to the high quality teaching the academy offers excellent facilities, including a modern well equipped kitchen and common room, study spaces and a designated Post 16 IT suite.
