Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 Diploma at Darlington College

Course description

The course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children or young people in school environments.

The course is suitable for those wanting to pursue a career or currently in the role as a teaching assistant, learning support assistant, parent support advisers learning mentors or similar roles at level 3.

The course includes 2 days a week in a school environment as placement.

Anyone wishing to apply for this course must also complete the suitability declaration form which will be sent to you at the point we invite you to interview.

Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs at Grade A*-C including English. You must also supply details of two personal referees who are not relatives and the college will write to them to obtain up to date references to support your application

You will be required to attend an interview at the college for all courses and Apprenticeships and we will request a school or college report


By your tutor through a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments.
