Performing Arts (Dance) BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Bebington High Sports College
The Edexcel BTEC course in dance is predominantly practical allowing students to develop technical dance performance skills in a range of dance styles alongside the related areas of anatomy, choreography and appreciation.
The BTEC Subsidiary diploma is studied alongside the A Level dance course throughout the 2 years and is the equivalent of one A Level:
- Performing to an Audience
- Dance Performance
- Dance Appreciation
- Choreographic Principles
- Developing Contemporary Dance Technique
- The Healthy Performer
There are clear links with the work involved in A level dance making the two a good combination.
A GCSE in Dance grade A* - C would be preferable for entry onto the course, however individuals may be considered with alternative dance experience outside of school.
The Diploma consists of two core units plus 4 specialist units. Each unit is marked with a pass, merit or distinction. Students must pass all units in order to gain the award.
