BTEC Science Level 3 at Torpoint Community College

Course description

The aim is to develop your interest and enthusiasm for science.

Scientists work in industry, the health service, government establishments and educational institutions. Fields of work include research and development and scientific analysis, and there are job opportunities in almost every industry, from food and drink to pharmaceuticals.

It will encourage you to appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society.

It will utilize a deeper appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of Science.

This course has been developed in the areas of laboratory and industrial science, forensic science, medical science, environmental science and biological, chemical and physical science to provide a route to employment in the science industry or within organisations that use science. Science goes particularly well with the other Sciences such as psychology. BTEC science contains Biology, Chemistry and Physics so it can be combined with any other subject, that is required for university entrance. BTEC science is recognised by universities and equates to approximately one and a half A levels with the majority of students completing the 90 credit diploma.
