Psychology at Aston Academy

Course description

Psychology is a fascinating subject which is all about you! Students will learn about research into memory, relationships, stress, obedience, addiction, aggression, sleep and mental illness. Lessons are interactive, intellectually challenging and discussion-based. The subject will develop skills including verbal and written literacy, critical thinking and self-reflection.

•Social influence
•Relationships, gender or cognition
•Schizophrenia, eating behaviour or stress
•Aggression, forensic psychology or addiction

Entry requirements

At Least 5 GCSE's at grade 4 and above.

You must achieve at least a grade 4 in English Language, Mathematics and Science.

You will not be able to study A level Psychology if your average GCSE grade is below 4.


Three two-hour examinations at the end of the two-year course. Students will not be entered for the AS examination in Summer 2019.

Psychology is useful though not essential for a range of degree subjects and careers including: Psychology, Philosophy, Law, Medicine, Science subjects, Sociology, Teaching, Social Work and Journalism; to name just a few.
